Ukrainian military denies Russian claim of Toretsk capture

On February 7, Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that Toretsk was taken by three motorized rifle brigades and volunteers.

However, Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the operational and strategic grouping of troops Khortytsia, stated that fighting continues in urban areas of Toretsk.

As of 4:00 p.m., Voloshyn reported that the enemy had attacked Toretsk eight times, with four engagements still ongoing.

“The enemy is using all its forces and resources to defeat us... They rely on their numerical superiority, throwing shock troops into assaults (using even one-way soldiers who are sent on a one-way assault - if they reach a certain point, they must wait there and accumulate personnel for the assault). They are also waging information warfare, spreading their hostile propaganda,” Voloshyn explained.

According to the DeepState analytical project, the claim of Russian occupation of Toretsk is false - urban battles are still ongoing, and Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to resist.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are still conducting defensive operations in Toretsk. The fighting is ongoing in the Zabalka microdistrict and on the northern and western outskirts. The town center is mostly under enemy control.

At the same time, the fighters of the Khyzhak brigade of the patrol police reported that they are holding the defense in Toretsk.

"Food and water are delivered to them by drones. Russian soldiers are just a few meters away. The task is to quickly retrieve the cargo under the cover of a comrade. A basement, trench candles, and vigilance 24/7 – these are the everyday realities of Ukrainian defenders," the police noted.

Earlier today, the General Staff provided a detailed report on the situation along the front line.

Also, earlier this month, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces recently advanced in the area of Toretsk.
