On the night of June 9, drones struck the facilities of the Progress plant in the Russian city of Cheboksary (Chuvash Republic, Russia). This enterprise is involved, particularly, in the production of navigation equipment for Shahed drones, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff said that the facility was part of the Russian military-industrial complex and produced critical components for Shahed kamikaze drones and guided aerial bombs.

Specifically, the attacked enterprise manufactured navigation equipment and special Kometa-type antennas used in Russian strike drones. The General Staff confirmed that at least two drones hit the plant, after which a large fire broke out.

Russian authorities temporarily restricted airport operations in several cities, including Kazan, Saratov, Tambov, and Nizhny Novgorod.

The General Staff declared that such strikes would continue until Russia ended its war against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Unmanned Systems Forces also confirmed the strike on the enterprise in Cheboksary. They noted that it is located about 1,000 km from Ukraine's state border.

The attack on Russia

After 3 a.m. Kyiv time, reports emerged of a Ukrainian drone attack on the city of Cheboksary in Russia’s Chuvash Republic. Several explosions were heard in the city, and later residents began posting videos showing thick black smoke rising above the local plant.

The military plant in Cheboksary ceased production of components for Russian missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs.
