The Russian army attacks Ukrainian territory almost every night with Shahed-type strike drones. Ukrainian aviation repels these attacks, according to the Air Force.

The video shows the nighttime combat operation of the pilot Yellowtail from the cockpit of a MiG-29 fighter jet. Specifically, it captures the destruction of an enemy Shahed-type strike drone during the repulsion of a massive Russian airstrike on Ukraine’s infrastructure.

Who is Yellowtail?

According to the Air Force, Yellowtail is a pilot of the Zakhid Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Air Command.

"He is always ready, upon combat orders, to take his fighter into the sky to defend our homeland from enemy airstrikes. He has logged over a hundred combat sorties," the Air Force's report.

To repel enemy missile and air strikes on Ukraine, all forces and resources of the air command are involved: anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare units, and, when necessary, fighter aviation.

Attacks on Ukraine

Last night, the Russian army launched attacks on Ukraine with over 70 drones from three directions. Ukraine’s air defense shot down 63 enemy drones — 22 were destroyed by firepower, and another 41 were lost due to electronic warfare system suppression.
