Russia has attacked Ukraine with over 70 drones from three directions. Air defense has destroyed most of the enemy drones and repelled the attack, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

During the night of May 21, Russia carried out a massive aerial attack with 76 Shahed drones and various types of decoys from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, and Bryansk.

According to Ukraine's Defense Forces, the attack was effectively repelled: aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups eliminated the majority of the drones.

As of the morning of May 21, Ukrainian air defense shot down 63 enemy drones - 22 were destroyed with firepower, and 41 were lost due to countermeasures by electronic warfare systems.

Due to the Russian aerial attack, the Kharkiv and Sumy regions were affected.

Attack on Ukraine

On May 20, Russia launched a missile strike on the training ground in the Sumy region, resulting in the deaths of six servicemen and injuries to more than ten others.

According to reports, the tragedy occurred during training exercises at a military unit. The National Guard command, together with law enforcement, launched an investigation into the incident and will provide a legal assessment of the actions of the officials involved.

Clear protocols had previously been developed for personnel in the event of air attacks, as well as measures to prevent troop gatherings and security violations. However, this did not prevent the tragedy.
