Ukrainian interceptor drones shoot down over 150 Russian targets overnight, Zelenskyy says

On the night of September 7, interceptor drones neutralized more than 150 Russian drones, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President said that during a single night, Russia deployed over 400 Shahed drones. The total number of aerial attack assets in that strike reached 810.
Almost half of these drones were aimed at complicating the air situation and overloading Ukraine's air defense systems.
In addition, Zelenskyy reported that missiles, including ballistic ones, were used. He emphasized that a significant portion of the enemy attacks was shot down, which he considers a substantial achievement.
"There are results from the interceptor drones: more than 150 interceptions that night. Electronic warfare units, army aviation, mobile fire groups, Air Force fighters, and anti-aircraft crews also performed well," he said.
Zelenskyy thanked the air defense forces and acknowledged that, despite their successes, not all attacks could be intercepted. He emphasized that strengthening air defense remains a top priority for Ukraine.
Russia's massive attack on Ukraine
On the night of September 7, Russia carried out a large-scale strike on Ukraine, deploying over 800 aerial assets. These included cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as drones.
In Kyiv, the attacks targeted high-rise buildings in the Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts. For the first time, a government building in the city center was hit.
At least 20 people were injured in Kyiv, and two were killed — a mother and her three-month-old son.
Explosions were also reported in Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, and Kremenchuk.
Russia's Defense Ministry issued a cynical version of the strikes, attempting to justify the targeting of Ukrainian cities.
