Ukrainian Intelligence strikes Tambov Gunpowder Plant with drones - Source
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) carried out an operation in which the Tambov Gunpowder Plant was struck. It was attacked by drones, according to RBC's source in Ukrainian intelligence.
According to the source, the attack was carried out by kamikaze drones, one of which successfully hit the Tambov Gunpowder Plant. The consequences of the hit, the degree of damage, and information on enemy losses are still being clarified.
However, the Russian authorities refuse to recognize that the plant was hit. The governor of the Tambov region, Maksim Yegorov, said that air defense "destroyed both drones" and that "there were no casualties or damage."
Despite this official version, locals have been posting videos online showing one of the drones hitting the target, followed by a detonation.
"Of course, there was no hit. And in this case, there was no Tambov Gunpowder Plant either," a source at the DIU commented on the operation.
Previous attacks on the plant
This is not the first time that Ukrainian drones have hit the Tambov Gunpowder Plant. It was under attack on January 19, when one of the drones exploded on the site near the powder mixing shop.
Another attack on the plant took place in November last year.
The Tambov Gunpowder Plant is one of the largest enterprises in Russia that produces ammunition and small arms powders. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the plant has increased production by a third. The company has been under sanctions since March 2023.
