Ukrainian hackers hit Russia's national payment system, sources say

From September 24 to 25, cyber experts from Ukraine's Defense Intelligence (HUR) carried out a large-scale attack on the digital infrastructure of the Russian national payment system SPB and the provider TransTeleCom, sources told RBC-Ukraine.
As a result of the attack, the operation of these resources was partially paralyzed. Russian citizens were unable to make transfers between banks and pay for goods and services. Online payments at gas stations were unavailable, and it was impossible to pay for public transport using a QR code.
There were also a number of other inconveniences in the use of online services for Russian citizens (for example, the lack of internet connection and interactive television).
The estimated economic damage as a result of the attack is up to $30 million.
Cyberattacks on Russia
Earlier, HUR officers, in cooperation with hacker groups, carried out another cyberattack against Russia.
Hackers associated with HUR also attacked Russian companies involved in the production of weapons. These operations were a continuation of a series of hacks of enemy websites and servers.
Ukrainian intelligence cyber experts carried out a large-scale operation in Russian cyberspace dedicated to Intelligence Day.
