Ukrainian Foreign Ministry names prerequisite for second Peace Summit
The prerequisite of the second Peace Summit is a document based on the outcomes of nine conferences dedicated to specific points of the peace formula. It will be ready by November, according to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.
According to the spokesperson, preparations for the second Peace Summit continue. Nine thematic conferences took place in August and October, addressing various elements of the peace formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. All these events concluded with the adoption of a joint communique reflecting the results of each session.
Tykhyi emphasized that the documents provided a strong foundation for completing the work on shared peace frameworks and a joint peace mechanism. The final document, expected to be completed in November, will present the international community's position on a fair resolution to the war based on the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter.
"So we're working on this joint peace framework. And it is the preparation of this Joint Peace Framework that is a prerequisite or, you know, a condition for holding a successful second Peace Summit. As we said many times, we are ready to invite the representatives of Russia to the second Peace Summit. When, again, the Joint Peace Framework is completed, and we understand that we can organize a successful summit," he stated.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that no one is interested in a purely ceremonial event. On the contrary, everyone needs a substantive summit and a meeting that can genuinely bring about a just peace. This work is ongoing.
"I will not name specific dates or terms because this would undermine our position. And again, we are in the process, so it's difficult to, you know, give you an exact specific term for the second Peace Summit," Tykhyi concluded.
As a reminder, at the end of October, Serhii Nikiforov, press secretary of the President of Ukraine, also stated that Ukraine is preparing a plan to resolve the war, which will be presented at the second Peace Summit. Active cooperation with countries from the Global South is also ongoing.
