The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed two Russian Su-34 aircraft at the Marinovka airfield in the Volgograd region, damaging two more, according to the SBU and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces and the SBU conducted a joint special operation that resulted in the destruction of two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers at the Marinovka airfield, with two others damaged.

These multi-role fighters are actively used by the enemy on the frontline for bombing missions, including dropping guided aerial bombs.

According to the SBU, the strike on the Russian fighters was carried out using long-range drones. The attack also caused a fire in the technical maintenance section of the enemy airfield, which is a critically important military infrastructure.

It is worth noting that this is where the enemy prepares aircraft for flights and performs their routine maintenance and repairs.

What the General Staff reported

According to the General Staff, on the night of June 27, units of the Special Operations Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, struck the Marinovka airfield in the Volgograd region of Russia. Preliminary information indicates that four enemy aircraft, specifically Su-34 planes, and the technical maintenance section, where various combat aircraft undergo servicing and repairs, were damaged.

"In the Russian Aerospace Forces, these are classified as frontline fighter-bombers. They are used, among other things, to drop guided aerial bombs, including those with gliding and correction modules," the General Staff wrote.

Operation Spiderweb: SBU strikes Russian aviation

On June 1, the Security Service of Ukraine launched a large-scale operation called Spiderweb, aimed at targeting Russian aviation.

The operation was personally coordinated by SBU head Vasyl Malyuk. Reports indicate that over 40 enemy aircraft were put out of action.

Notably, drones attacked Russian Siberia for the first time. Specifically, around 10 explosions were heard at the Dyagilevo airfield.
