On the night of August 24, long-range drones belonging to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine set off a bright explosion at the production facilities of the port of Ust-Luga in Russia's Leningrad region, sources say.

According to preliminary data, the drones hit the gas processing complex of Novatek, one of the largest producers of liquefied gas in Russia.

The videos show a powerful explosion and a large-scale fire.

According to the information, the strike hit the cryogenic gas condensate fractionation unit, which is the heart of the complex's technological processes.

This is the second successful SBU strike on Ust-Luga in 2025; the first took place in early January.

"Russia trades oil and gas through this terminal using a shadow fleet. The SBU's drone sanctions reduce the inflow of currency that Russia needs to wage war," said an informed source in the SBU.

Today, August 24, 10 drones were spotted over the port of Ust-Luga. The debris from the drones caused a fire.

Due to the situation, flights at Pulkovo Airport have been temporarily suspended. In addition, on August 9, the SBU struck a warehouse with Shahed drones in Tatarstan, more than 1,000 km from Ukraine, using long-range drones.
