Ukrainian forces provide evidence of Russian bombing strike on boarding school in Sudzha
After a Russian military airstrike on a boarding school in Sudzha, Kursk region, with a large number of civilians inside, Moscow attempted to blame Ukraine for the attack. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces provided evidence exposing yet another Russian war crime, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The military reported that on February 1, at around 6:00 p.m., Russian aviation struck a temporary civilian shelter in Sudzha, Kursk region, using a guided aerial bomb (KAB). The settlement is under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
The Russian bomb hit a three-story building that previously housed a boarding school, located at 7 Lenin Street in Sudzha.
At the time of the strike, 86 civilians were inside the building, along with a unit of Ukraine’s National Police consisting of four officers.
"As a result of the strike, the central part of the building was destroyed. As of 9:00 p.m., four people were confirmed dead, four others were seriously injured, and about 80 civilians remained unharmed," Ukrainian Air Force reported.
The seriously wounded were evacuated to stabilization points for medical treatment and further transfer to a hospital.
"Bombing civilians is a signature tactic of Russian war criminals - even when the civilians are local Russian residents," Ukraine’s Defense Forces emphasized.
The military stated that Russia immediately attempted to shift blame onto Ukraine, with numerous Russian media channels predictably accusing Kyiv of the attack.
"It won’t work! Undeniable evidence and objective monitoring data are confirming that the strike was carried out by Russian tactical aviation," the Air Force stated.
Ukrainian forces published screenshots from the Virazh-Planchet system, showing the flight path of the Russian-guided bomb.
"Justice will be served - for everything!" Ukraine’s Defense Forces stressed.
