Ukrainian Forces hit Russia's only ice-free Caspian port used for Iranian Shahed deliveries

Ukrainian forces hit eight facilities supporting Russia's war effort in a single day. The targets included a strategic Caspian Sea port that Russia used to transport Iranian drones to the front lines, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Fire Point reported.
Eight targets in one day
Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces struck eight facilities in Russia that support the war against Ukraine. Among the targets were an oil refinery in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and a seaport in Dagestan.
Facilities in the Moscow, Voronezh, Astrakhan and Bryansk regions also came under attack.
"Russia continues its daily terror against Ukraine. And every day, it receives a just response," the president wrote.

"Ukrainian Defense Forces hit Russia's only ice-free Caspian port using FP-1 strike drones, through which Iranian Shaheds were delivered," Fire Point said.
The Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is Russia's only ice-free deepwater port on the Caspian Sea. It operates year-round and provides maritime links between Russia and countries in the Caspian region, including Iran.

Makhachkala was also used as one of the delivery points for Iranian attack drones transported to Russia across the Caspian Sea. The drones were then transported onward to areas where they were used against Ukraine.
- During the first eight months of 2026, the port handled more than 2.9 million tons of cargo.
- More than 2.08 million tons of that volume consisted of oil.
Hits and a subsequent fire were reported at the port. The exact consequences of the attack are still being clarified.
It was previously reported that drones attacked the Saratov Oil Refinery on the night of September 8, one of Russia's oldest facilities of its kind.
A fire broke out after the strike, while the regional governor confirmed damage to civilian infrastructure and casualties.
Meanwhile, the same night the port in Dagestan was attacked, the Russian city of Sochi also came under a drone attack.
A fire broke out on the waterfront, and the attack forced an early end to a concert by Russian singer Tatyana Bulanova, who has openly supported Russia's war against Ukraine.
