Fighting in the Kursk region
Last week, Russia claimed a breach of the border by Ukrainian defenders. According to the Russian version, the Ukrainian Armed Forces entered the Kursk region and began their advance there.
These events were officially reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Federal Security Service. At the same time, Ukraine did not officially confirm the breach.
Each day, more reports emerged online indicating that Ukrainian defenders were maintaining control over border settlements in the Kursk region. Corresponding photos were also posted on Telegram channels.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region was officially confirmed only today by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following the Meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
By the way, the acting head of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, said today that Russia does not control 28 settlements in the region.
