Ukrainian drones hit Russian refinery more than 700 km from border

Ukrainian drones struck a major oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl region and damaged two Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) coast guard patrol ships in Kerch, according to Ukraine's Security Service (SBU).
Strike on Yaroslavl oil refinery
The SBU, together with other branches of Ukraine's Defense Forces, carried out a successful strike on the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl, more than 700 kilometers (435 miles) from Ukraine's border.
The Yaroslavl refinery is one of Russia's five largest oil processing facilities, with an annual capacity of nearly 15 million metric tons. It produces:
- gasoline,
- diesel fuel,
- aviation kerosene,
- and other strategically important petroleum products supplying central Russia and the Moscow metropolitan agglomeration.
According to the SBU, at least six explosions were recorded at the facility, triggering fires in four separate areas of the refinery.
Preliminary information indicates that:
- four RVS-2000 crude oil storage tanks were damaged, causing an oil spill;
- two storage tanks caught fire.
The attack also damaged the refinery's key ELOU-1 and AVT-3 processing units, where additional fires broke out.
FSB patrol ships were damaged
The SBU also said drone strikes on the port of Kerch in Russian-occupied Crimea damaged two Project 10410 Svetlyak-class patrol ships of the Russian FSB Coast Guard, Balaklava and Kerch.
Earlier today, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russia's Yaroslavl came under a drone attack, with a fire breaking out at the local refinery.
Last week, the SBU carried out a series of strikes on Russia's defense industry facilities, fuel and energy infrastructure, air defense systems, military airfields, logistics hubs, and ammunition depots.
