Ukrainian drones attacked Russia's Saratov region: Details

Drones attacked Saratov region on March 13. This region plays a major role in the Russian gas transportation system, says Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
“As a result of the drone attack, non-residential buildings in Petrovsky district were damaged. The warning system is working. There are no preliminary casualties,” said Roman Busargin, the regional governor.
According to Russian media, the attack most likely targeted the Gazovaya power substation.
Russians, impressed by the UAV's work, share the footage online (warning, there is some profanity).
Why Saratov region is important for Russia
According to the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Saratov region is one of the key regions in Russia's gas transportation system.
“The region has the Saratov Oil Refinery with a refining capacity of about 7 million tons of oil per year. It produces aviation fuel, diesel and lubricants that power military equipment,” Kovalenko said.
In addition, the Saratov region's main gas pipeline line management is part of Russia's gas transportation system and plays a role in ensuring the stable transportation of natural gas, potentially supporting export routes.
“Russia is financing the war from revenues from resource exports,” the CCD stated.
Drone attacks on Russia
Drones are constantly attacking various regions of Russia. Ukraine's special services often confirm their participation in such operations.
In addition to Saratov region, on the evening of March 12, Voronezh region reported a fire at an infrastructure facility due to a drone attack.
Also in the Kaluga region, an enterprise burned down and a communication tower was damaged due to a drone strike.
