A Russian soldier who had been hiding after his comrade was killed surrendered to Ukrainian forces without a single shot being fired. Soldiers of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of Ukrainian Armed Forces used an unconventional approach.

A soldier from the 106th Battalion of the 63rd Brigade, known by the callsign Dykyi ("Wild"), described how they forced the enemy to surrender using a drone equipped with a loudspeaker.

He said the incident began in the morning when Dykyi's comrade heard movement and the voices of the Russians. The soldier immediately reacted, grabbed his rifle, and rushed to the position.

While moving through a trench, Dykyi heard coughing somewhere above him. He looked up, noticed suspicious movement, and opened fire instantly, eliminating the enemy.

After that, the soldiers realized another occupier was nearby.

"We started searching for him, but couldn’t find him. We covered the entire area, fired shots, and shouted at him to surrender," Dykyi explained.

To avoid risking personnel, the unit made an unconventional decision.

"The commander decided to call in a drone with a loudspeaker and offer (the Russian soldier -ed.) to surrender. The drone flew over the area, and the enemy eventually came out with his hands raised," Dykyi said.

The captured Russian soldier, who was wounded, was taken to shelter and given medical assistance.

In addition, Ukrainian troops destroyed a tank, four armored fighting vehicles, 10 artillery systems, one multiple-launch rocket system, 199 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 11 cruise missiles, and 122 units of Russian military vehicles.
