The Ukrainian team is already heading to Abu Dhabi for a trilateral meeting with Russian and US delegations, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy said that he spoke with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and briefed him on his meeting with US President Donald Trump, as well as on diplomatic plans, upcoming meetings, and work on documents.
"Our team is currently en route to the United Arab Emirates for meetings with both the American and Russian sides. We will see how this proceeds and then determine our next steps," the President said.
Zelenskyy and Støre also discussed the outcomes of the World Economic Forum.
"We definitely need to become stronger and work together more – all of us in Europe. Of course, we discussed the situation in Ukraine and our needs to protect people," Zelenskyy added.
First Ukraine–US–Russia meeting
Earlier today, January 22, US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said that talks on Ukraine would be held in Abu Dhabi after he meets with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Shortly afterward, President Zelenskyy confirmed that the negotiations would be trilateral, involving Ukrainian, American, and Russian teams.
According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian delegation includes Presidential Office Head Kyrylo Budanov and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Sergiy Kyslytsya.
The talks will also include Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov.
The composition of the Russian and US delegations has not yet been disclosed.
According to the Financial Times, Ukraine and the United States may propose an energy ceasefire to Russia.
