Ukrainian border guards repelled a Russian attack in the Pokrovsk direction and captured a group of Russian troops. A video appeared on the Internet, according to the State Border Service of Ukraine.

Russians in this area are attempting to advance in small groups. On August 24, fighters from the Chernihiv detachment's rapid response border guard command stopped the attack and captured 6 Russian troops.

A few days earlier, Ukrainian soldiers had already detained 3 more Russian soldiers.

Among the captives are militants from both the occupied areas of the Donetsk region and regions of Russia, in particular, Udmurtia and Ossetia.

Pokrovsk direction

The Pokrovsk direction remains the most intense section of the front. According to the morning report of the General Staff as of August 26, it was here that the largest number of combat clashes took place during the day.

Ukrainian troops repelled 46 Russian assaults. Fighting took place in the areas of Zatyshok, Nykanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Novoekonomichnoe, Udachne, Shakhove, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Sukhetske, Lysivka, and Zvirove.

Russia also attempted to break through in the directions of Rodynske, Novoukrainka, Chervonyi Lyman, and Pokrovsk itself.

It is impossible to enter Pokrovsk itself due to active shelling, which makes it impossible to deliver humanitarian and medical aid.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, the Russian army is using the tactic of a thousand cuts in this direction, where small assault groups on a wide front are trying to break through the defenses.
