Ukraine's Pokrovsk nearly cut off, aid deliveries halted

It is almost impossible to enter Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, which is located near the front line. It is impossible to deliver humanitarian and medical aid to the city, says Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
1,370 people are remaining in Pokrovsk, and it is almost impossible to enter the city.
"It is almost impossible to enter the city, so we only go there with the military and ask Ukrainian defenders to help with the evacuation of people," Filashkin says.
Several utility workers are still working in Pokrovsk, and police units come at certain times to evacuate the people.
"It is impossible to deliver humanitarian or medical aid to the city. Almost every day, Russia shells and destroys the city of Pokrovsk," says the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
He notes that the situation is similar in Kostiantynivka, where 8,261 people remain. Without the special services, evacuation from the city would be impossible, as both Kostiantynivka and the community are under daily Russian shelling.

Fighting for Pokrovsk
At the end of July, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group had infiltrated Pokrovsk. Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped the assaults and cleared the area.
According to ISW analysts, on July 31, Ukrainian troops recently advanced in northern Lysivka in the Pokrovsk direction.
Also, in recent days, the Russians have spread information about the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian units in Pokrovsk. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied this.
Ukrainian military notes that Russians are currently conducting offensive operations northeast of Pokrovsk and attempting to cut off the logistics of Ukrainian troops.
