Ukrainian units continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovsk. The battle for the city continues, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Syrskyi noted that the extremely difficult stage of defending the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration continues. For this reason, he once again worked with the commanders of military groupings, corps, brigades, regiments, and separate battalions.
“The battle continues. Ukrainian units continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovsk,” the Commander-in-Chief stated.
According to him, in the area of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, active actions are preventing the enemy from assembling assault infantry groups and advancing around these settlements.
Directly inside the cities, Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold designated areas.
Syrskyi noted that while the occupiers disregard their personnel losses, Ukrainian commanders clearly understand the importance of preserving the lives and health of their subordinates.
“For this purpose, during the meeting with our commanders, we clarified matters of coordinated employment, support for advancement, and timely rotation of units carrying out search-and-assault missions to detect and eliminate the enemy,”
he said.
According to the Commander-in-Chief, a number of decisions were made regarding combat management, coordination, and comprehensive support of the forces and equipment involved to ensure the resilience of the defense.
In this context, special attention is given to establishing additional logistical routes, timely medical evacuation, counter-battery warfare, and countering enemy drones.
Fighting for Pokrovsk
As a reminder, the Pokrovsk direction has long been the epicenter of battles in the Donetsk region. Russian forces are trying to encircle Pokrovsk from several directions and are deploying additional troops there.
According to the Air Assault Forces, Russian troops are mainly concentrated in the southern part of Pokrovsk, with smaller groups scattered across the entire agglomeration. The enemy is conducting round-the-clock assaults on Defense Forces positions and suffering heavy losses.
According to Colonel Vladyslav Seleznov, the Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has concentrated more than 140,000 troops in the Pokrovsk direction.
