Donetsk Shakhtar, having crushed Finnish club Ilves in the first round of Europa League qualification (6-0), has rewritten the list of the biggest victories by Ukrainian clubs in continental competitions. Here are the most dominant wins by Ukrainian teams on the international stage.

Five "fives" from Shakhtar

The Miners recorded one of the most confident wins in club history on the European stage. The 6-0 scoreline became the club's second-largest victory in European competitions.

The only result surpassing this triumph was recorded back in October 2014, when Shakhtar demolished Belarusian club BATE 7-0 in the Champions League group stage.

In total, this marks the fifth time the club has won a European match by five or more goals. Three of these came in the Champions League, and two in the Europa League.

Shakhtar's biggest wins in European competitions:

  • 7-0 BATE (Belarus), 02.10.2014 (Champions League group stage)
  • 6-0 Ilves (Finland), 10.07.2025 (Europa League qualification, Round 1)
  • 5-0 BATE (Belarus), 05.11.2014 (Champions League group stage)
  • 5-0 Basel (Switzerland), 26.11.2008 (Champions League group stage)
  • 5-0 Genk (Belgium), 20.10.2016 (Europa League group stage)

Biggest blowout was from Dynamo

As for the biggest blowout victories by domestic representatives in European competitions, Shakhtar surpasses not only Dynamo Kyiv but also their fellow Donetsk club, Metalurh (a now-defunct team). These clubs defeated their opponents with even greater dominance.

The most lopsided win by a Ukrainian team in international play was Dynamo Kyiv's 8-0 victory over the Welsh side, Barry Town, in 1998. At the time, under Valerii Lobanovskyi, Dynamo reached the semifinals of the Champions League that season.

Biggest victories by Ukrainian teams in European competitions:

  • 8-0 Dynamo vs. Barry Town (Wales), 22.07.1998 (Champions League qualification)
