Ukrainian border guards shoot down two Russian Geran UAVs
Ukrainian Border guards destroyed two Russian Geran drones in northern Ukraine, the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.
"Two deadly Geran UAVs were taken down by border guards in the north," the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine states.
Russia's use of drones in war against Ukraine
Russian forces constantly use various types of drones for attacks on Ukraine. The Russian army targets Ukraine daily with kamikaze drones. In particular, on the night of December 4, alongside missile attacks, Russia launched 50 UAVs against Ukraine, most of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defense.
As recently reported, Russia has started using decoy drones in its attacks on Ukraine. These decoys imitate Shahed drones and aim to exhaust Ukraine's air defense systems. In addition, Russia appears to be striving for round-the-clock drone strikes on Ukraine.
Geran drone
The Russian UAV Geran has been in use since September 2022. The Russian army has been using them alongside cruise missiles for strikes.
According to the sources, since the summer of 2023, Russia has started using its domestically produced kamikaze drones, the new Geran-2 UAV model, for attacks on Ukraine.
