Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh made a triumphant return after a three-week break. At the "gold" stage of the Continental Tour in the Netherlands, she left her rivals with no chance and won the high jump gold, extending her winning streak.
How the winning performance unfolded
For Yaroslava, this was only her second event of the current outdoor season, after the Diamond League meet in Rabat in May (where she also won with a result of 1.97 m). In Hengelo, the Ukrainian started her competition at 1.91 meters, which she cleared confidently on her second attempt.
At that height, almost all competitors dropped out, except for Cuba's Dacsy Brisón, who cleared it only on her third attempt.
The battle for gold was decided at a height of 1.94 meters. Mahuchikh cleared it on her second attempt, securing a clear first place.
Already as the winner, Yaroslava attempted the elite mark of 2.00 meters, but this time she was unable to clear the two-meter barrier.

- Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine) — 1.94 m
- Dacsy Brisón (Cuba) — 1.91 m
- Kristina Ovchinnikova (Kazakhstan) — 1.88 m
Notably, Mahuchikh returned to the FBK Games for the first time since 2023, when she also won gold with a result of 2.00 meters.
Phenomenal streak, next competition
Thanks to her success in the Netherlands, the leader of Ukraine's national team extended her incredible winning streak in the 2026 season to six consecutive starts (including her indoor performances).
Worth noting that Mahuchikh's best result of 2026 remains a jump of 2.03 meters at the January Dmytro Demyanyuk Memorial in Lviv.
A busy schedule lies ahead for the Ukrainian champion. Her next appearance is already scheduled for a few days from now. On Wednesday, June 24, Mahuchikh will compete at another Continental Tour "gold" meet in Zagreb, Croatia.
Earlier, Yaroslava defeated Yuliia Levchenko and Iryna Herashchenko in a star-studded showdown at the Ukrainian Championships.
