Ukrainian artillery turns three Russian howitzers and MLRS to ash in Zaporizhzhia region

Ukrainian artillerymen successfully struck Russian positions, reducing to ashes an MLRS, three howitzers, and their ammunition in the Zaporizhzhia sector, the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
In the course of fire missions, the brigade’s soldiers destroyed enemy positions in the Zaporizhzhia sector. During the operation, the following were hit and eliminated:
- Type-75 MLRS,
- Three 2A36 Giatsint-B howitzers,
- Three ammunition depots.
According to the brigade, every destroyed unit of equipment means saved lives of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians. The artillerymen continue to deliver precise strikes against enemy positions.
What we know about Giatsint-B
The 2A36 Giatsint-B is a Soviet towed gun with a 152 mm caliber, put into service in 1976.
It weighs nearly 10 tons and can fire at a range of up to 28 km with standard shells, and up to 33-40 km with active-jet projectiles.
The gun’s crew consists of about 8-10 soldiers, and its rate of fire reaches 5-6 rounds per minute.
The system is designed to target manpower, equipment, and fortifications, has a long range, and is still used on the battlefield despite its age.
In the current war, Russia actively employs this system, although it is considered outdated. Ukraine also has the Giatsint-B in service and uses it effectively.
Many military experts note that despite its age, this gun still poses a threat due to its long firing range. That is why its destruction is an important achievement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, a Giatsint-B gun became one of the trophies of Ukrainian defenders during the liberation of part of the Kherson region in 2022.
Previously, Ukrainian artillerymen have also shown how they destroyed an ammunition depot and Russian positions using Italian FH70 howitzers in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
