Ukraine's Defense Forces were forced to withdraw from positions near five settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.
"In Zaporizhzhia, particularly in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions, heavy fighting has been ongoing for several days. The enemy is using all available types of weapons to push the Armed Forces of Ukraine from their positions," Voloshyn said.
According to him, up to a hundred combat engagements have been recorded there over the past several days.
Due to intensified enemy assault actions - more than 400 artillery attacks daily using about 2,000 shells - the Defense Forces had to withdraw from positions near the settlements of Novouspenivske, Nove, Okhotnyche, Uspenivka, and Novomykolayivka to preserve personnel lives.
"The enemy is trying to move its consolidation groups into these settlements, but Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to prevent them from holding their ground," the Southern Defense Forces spokesperson added.
He also noted that fierce battles continue for Rivnopillia, Solodke, and Yablukove villages. The enemy, advancing from the east, is attempting to encircle Huliaipole and cut off the logistics routes leading from Pokrovske.
"The battles continue. Our assault units are fiercely fighting for every inch of our land," Voloshyn emphasized.
