Ukrainian army chief reports record Russian losses in Donetsk region
Russians continue relentless meat-grinder assaults in the Donetsk region, suffering record losses. Over the past week alone, the enemy has been losing approximately 1,700 personnel daily, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"I worked in units and subdivisions conducting defensive operations in Donetsk. These directions remain the hottest. The enemy continues relentless meat-grinder assaults, suffering record losses. Over the past week, the invaders have been losing about 1,700 personnel daily, killed and wounded. Overall, this year, this figure has already reached 427,000," Syrskyi stated.
According to the Commander-in-Chief, measures were discussed with unit commanders to:
- enhance the effectiveness of enemy fire damage;
- ensure reliable defense of borders and positions;
- maintain uninterrupted supply of ammunition and drones;
- strengthen units conducting front-line defense.

Additionally, Syrskyi noted that attention was given to equipping medical units with all necessary supplies and organizing effective evacuation of wounded soldiers.
"Our goal in this direction is the maximum destruction of the enemy and their reserves. We continue striking the occupiers without pause," he added.
Situation at the front
Over the past day, December 29, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 186 combat engagements were recorded at the frontline. In particular, enemy losses amounted to 2,010 personnel units yesterday.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian soldiers regained previously lost positions near Siversk. At the same time, the enemy is advancing near Toretsk, Velyka Novosilka, and in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
