Ukrainian army advance past 2014 occupation line near Donetsk - UK intelligence
According to the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom on Twitter, the Ukrainian armed forces have shattered the Russian army's defense during a counteroffensive near Donetsk and have crossed the occupation line established in 2014.
As reported, Ukrainian Airborne forces have made small advances east from the village of Krasnohorivka, near Donetsk city, which sits on the old Line of Control.
According to British intelligence, This is one of the first instances since Russia’s February 2022 invasion that Ukrainian forces have highly likely recaptured an area of territory occupied by Russia since 2014.
Recent multiple concurrent Ukrainian assaults throughout the Donbas have likely overstretched Donetsk People’s Republic and Chechen forces operating in this area, wrote the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.
Crossing the 2014 occupation line
The Ukrainian Armed Forces previously announced that Ukrainian soldiers near Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region liberated several positions that had been under Russian occupation since 2014.
The territory was successfully reclaimed through well-planned storming, simulated actions, aviation support, and heavy equipment. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have already conducted demining operations in certain areas.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces said that the liberation of the area near Krasnohorivka holds "more of a symbolic significance, a pivotal moment," and provides some improvement in the tactical situation of the Armed Forces.
