Russia deployed two ships to sea before yesterday's shelling of Ukraine. One of them launched missiles at Ukraine, while the purpose of the other ship's sortie remains unknown, according to the spokesperson for the South Ukrainian Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk.

"Two carriers were deployed yesterday. One of them was a submarine. It likely launched an attack with four Kalibr cruise missiles. All of them were destroyed," Pletenchuk reported.

The spokesperson added that the other missile carrier is a Buyan-M project missile ship. It sailed out to the outer raid.

"It sailed from Novorossiysk. However, it returned afterward. The purpose of its sortie remains unclear. But there is no confirmation that it was used to carry out an attack," he said.

Russia's attack on May 8

Last night, Russia launched dozens of missiles of various types and kamikaze drones at Ukraine, including Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down some of the airborne targets, but there were also hits.

Once again, Ukraine's energy infrastructure was targeted by the Russians, damaging facilities in six regions, including three thermal power plants.

Furthermore, energy officials warned that due to the new damage in Ukraine, power outages may be imposed. They were previously implemented solely for businesses.
