The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has denied Russian claims that they allegedly captured the settlement of Dobropillia in the Zaporizhzhia region. A group of Russian soldiers managed to infiltrate the area but was eliminated, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

"Attention! Russian propaganda is now very actively spreading fake claims that they allegedly control Dobropillia near Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian forces' informational attacks do not correspond to reality," the statement said.

The General Staff noted that a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group, taking advantage of weather conditions, managed to infiltrate the outskirts of the settlement. The group was detected and eliminated, and Ukrainian troops control the settlement.

"During counter-sabotage measures, three enemy servicemen were destroyed even before settling, and two more (likely the suicide operatives tasked with displaying Russian flags in the village they allegedly captured) were eliminated shortly afterward," the General Staff added.

The General Staff also released a video showing the elimination of Russians in the village, as well as footage of Ukrainian soldiers who located and destroyed Russian troops.

Fighting near Huliaipole: What is known

The Center for Countering Disinformation reported that Russian forces attempted to break through the front line in the Zaporizhzhia region and to occupy Huliaipole, but all enemy attempts failed. Since their efforts failed, the Russians are now trying to claim a "victory" in the propaganda arena.

Beginning on November 26, reports indicated a critical situation near Huliaipole. The spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, explained in a comment to RBC-Ukraine that the escalation in the Huliaipole direction occurred after Ukrainian forces regrouped.

One unit carried out an uncoordinated withdrawal, leaving the defense's flank exposed. Russian forces took advantage of this and moved to the Defense Forces' flank. However, after heavy fighting, the situation stabilized: the Russians were stopped near the town, are not in Huliaipole, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding their positions.
