A pontoon crossing is a temporary structure used to turn water obstacles, such as rivers or canals, into travel routes. It consists of pontoons that float on water and provide support for vehicles and military equipment.
In a military context, pontoon crossings are often used to quickly move troops, equipment, and supplies across water obstacles. Ukrainian Defense Forces reduce Russian crossings to impede the movement of Russian troops. Such actions may include artillery or air strikes to destroy the structure, the use of sabotage groups, and more.
The National Guard of Ukraine destroyed a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group in the Pokrovsk sector and showed a video of their work.
