Ukrainian Air Force downs over 30 Russian aerial targets above Kyiv
During a massive Russian air strike on Ukraine on December 29, over 30 air targets were hit by air defense forces and equipment over Kyiv, according to the press service of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
"Today, the enemy conducted one of the most massive air strikes on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy used Shahed barrage munitions, Kh-22/Kh-32 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, ballistic missiles, S-300, Kh-101/X555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic bombers, and Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from Mig-31K," the statement says.
According to the KCMA, Kyiv has been on air alert three times and lasted almost 5 hours in total. During the last alert, the capital was hit by several dozen missiles of various types. They came at the city in waves and from different directions.
"More than three dozen air targets were hit by air defense forces and means over Kyiv," the statement says.
Consequences of the Russian strike
According to the KCMA, a total of two dead and 18 injured have been reported in the capital so far. The wounded are being provided with medical assistance.
The building of the Lukyanivska metro station was damaged, but it has already resumed operations.
In the Podilskyi district:
- a warehouse caught fire in an area of approximately 3000 m2. The State Emergency Service is working.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district:
- an unoccupied multi-story building caught fire;
- three cars caught fire.
Both fires were extinguished.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district:
- fire in an unfinished business center;
- damage to a residential building;
- fire in the territory of garages (extinguished);
- a fire in a warehouse;
- a fire on the territory of a non-residential building.
In the Darnytskyi district:
- damage to a residential multi-story building;
- damage to one private house.
There were no fires.
Russian strike on Ukraine
As a reminder, on the morning of December 29, Russian troops launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine from strategic aviation.
Missiles were reported to have hit Kharkiv, and drones were reported to have hit Lviv. There were also explosions in Kyiv and Dnipro.
In Kyiv, after the explosions, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko announced intensive air defense operations.
