Ukrainian air defenders shoot down nearly all Russian targets attacking Ukraine overnight
On the night of June 27, Russian troops used air- and sea-launched missiles and kamikaze drones to launch another air attack on Ukrainian territory. All Russian attack units, except for the Kinzhal missile, were shot down by the Armed Forces of Ukraine's air defense, according to the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
He specifies that Russia used a total of 1 aerial ballistic missile for this nighttime combined attack on Ukraine:
- 1 Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missile, which the Russians launched from the airspace of the Tambov region in Russia,
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the northeastern part of the Black Sea,
- 1 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missile launched from the Kursk region,
- 23 Shahed-131/136 attack drones and the launch area was Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Ukrainian Air Defense Forces's work
Thus, 28 targets were eliminated during the repulsion of the air attack.
"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 28 Russian air targets were shot down: 4 Kalibr cruise missiles, 1 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missile, 23 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs," the general says.
Russian night air attack on Ukraine
On the evening of June 27, Russian troops launched several groups of Shahed-type attack drones into Ukraine. On the night of the 27th, it was reported that the Russian occupiers launched Kalibr cruise missiles. There were also reports of the takeoff of a MiG-31K, which carries the Kinzhal air defense missile, and the threat of air strikes from Russian tactical aircraft.
There were also reports of explosions in the Khmelnytskyi region, with at least four explosions in the region overnight. In addition, an explosion was also heard in the Kyiv area. The Kyiv authorities did not explain the cause but posted online about Ukrainian air defense operations in the Kyiv area and the region.
