Ukraine is discussing and working on opening its aviation space. The risks of this decision are currently being assessed, states the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

"We are consulting with American and European safety regulators on the opening of aviation space. It is a complicated process, but Ukraine is taking the first formal steps now," he said.

Kubrakov added that Ukraine is assessing the risks of opening the airspace, but there is no timeframe for a decision yet.

"These weeks we are submitting official applications and risk assessments to the relevant regulators. No one can say for sure what the time frame will be," the Ukrainian infrastructure minister said.

Opening up Ukraine's airspace

Over the past year, Ukraine has been discussing the possibility of opening its airspace to civilian aircraft. Earlier, Andriy Sybiga, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that Boryspil would be the first airport to be opened in Ukraine.

There was also an idea to open an airport in the Zakarpattia region. And the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, said that Ukraine was discussing the possibility of opening Lviv Airport. This would allow for the resumption of air travel with EU countries.
