Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Andrii Melnyk, addressed Russians in connection with the likely mobilization that could be announced in Russia after the State Duma elections. He urged them to leave Russia while they still have the opportunity, according to a broadcast of the UN Security Council meeting.

"Mr. President Putin did not simply launch a war against Ukraine. He unleashed the four horsemen of the apocalypse like in the book of revelation. Conquest, war, famine, and death... They're going to swallow not only the one who unleashed them but the very system that was built.... They may leave the final seal upon the fate of Russia itself," Melnyk said.

During his speech, when the diplomat addressed Russian men, their wives, and mothers directly, Melnyk spoke to them in Russian and warned that a new wave of mobilization is expected in Russia.

He noted that after the so-called elections to the Russian State Duma, after September 20, Russian leader Vladimir Putin will begin forced mobilization. Specifically, he intends to conscript up to 500,000 people, after which he will send them to Ukrainian soil on a one-way trip.

Concluding, Melnyk said that while it is not too late, Russians should leave the country. At the same time, he added that they might face problems with fuel for the journey.

Mobilization in Russia

A few days ago, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, assured that mobilization in Russia was not planned. However, Melnyk compared these statements to the beginning of the war, when Russia also claimed that Putin had no plans for an invasion.

According to Russian media, covert mobilization is already spreading in Russia. In particular, violent detentions and coercion to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense have already been recorded in 17 regions.
