Ukraine warns of new Russian strategy as assaults intensify in Sumy

Russian troops are stepping up their efforts to break through Ukrainian defenses in the Sumy region using small assault groups, stated the State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko.
Demchenko said Russian forces are expanding their assault directions, particularly near the settlements of Volodymyrivka and Veselivka.
The most intense assault activity has been observed near the areas of Basivka and Zhuravka.
However, in recent days, the Russian army has been trying to widen the area of pressure along the Ukrainian border.
Despite suffering heavy losses, the enemy continues to send in assault groups. Before that, the enemy conducts artillery training, uses drones and aircraft to weaken Ukrainian positions before the assault.
"Their primary goal is to destroy the positions of Ukrainian troops and weaken our defensive capability during their assaults," Demchenko explained.
Situation at the frontline
Russia continues massive attacks along the entire front line. The General Staff reports more than 180 combat engagements per day and has updated the combat map.
Russia launched one missile and 112 air strikes, using 84 missiles and dropping 189 guided bombs. It also used more than 3,000 kamikaze drones and almost 5,000 attacks on Ukrainian positions and civilian cities.
