While maintaining effective control over specific areas of the Kursk region of Russia, Ukraine adheres to all norms of international humanitarian law and human rights. In the context of military operations, Ukrainian forces demonstrate a high level of professionalism, ensuring the protection of civilians in line with international obligations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The ministry reported that since the beginning of the Kursk operation, Ukraine's Defense Forces have guaranteed humanitarian aid to residents, provided the opportunity to leave conflict areas, and ensured their basic needs are met.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has appealed to the United Nations to assist in the humanitarian response in the region and has sent an official note.

Additionally, the MFA of Ukraine called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to monitor the observance of international humanitarian law in the territories under control, in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Convention.

Ukraine confirms its readiness to cooperate with the UN and the ICRC to effectively provide aid to the population of the Kursk region and monitor the humanitarian situation.

Situation in Kursk region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region has been ongoing for over a month. Ukrainian troops are successfully advancing, having taken control of more than a hundred settlements, including the city of Sudzha.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the operation in the Kursk region is proceeding according to plan.

Earlier, the Siversk Operational Tactical Group reported that the number of Russian troops in the Kursk direction had increased to 45,000 occupiers.
