Ukraine urges Israel and Hezbollah to exercise restraint to avoid large-scale war
Israel and Hezbollah must prevent a large-scale regional war, which requires restraint from both sides, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry expressed concern over Israel's decision to launch a limited ground operation in Lebanon.
"Strongly condemning the rocket attacks on the territory of Israel by the Hezbollah group, Ukraine calls on the parties to the conflict to exercise maximum restraint in order to prevent the conflict from developing into a large-scale regional war," the Ministry added.
The Ministry also noted that the large increase in the number of refugees and displaced persons in Lebanon who were forced to leave their homes due to the military conflict is of particular concern.
The Ministry stressed the critical importance of avoiding civilian casualties and ensuring compliance with international humanitarian law.
"It is necessary to put an end to the violence in the region as soon as possible. A peaceful and prosperous Lebanon is a guarantee of stability for all the countries of the Middle East," the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
