Ukraine to strengthen Air Force this year, it's fundamental task, Zelenskyy says
The Ukrainian Air Force will be stronger this year. This will be made possible by the delivery of F-16 fighter jets, according to the evening address of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He reminded that the day began with a Staff meeting. During it, the preparation of our state for the transition to F-16 fighters was discussed, and there was a special report.
According to the president, questions were raised about the first batch of aircraft: specific delivery schedules, and necessary technical and infrastructure support. The details were positive.
"This year, our Air Force will become stronger, and this is a fundamental task. Specifically, this means protection against Russian guided bombs and new capabilities on the frontline in general," Zelenskyy emphasized.
F-16 for Ukraine
Back in August 2023, Denmark and the Netherlands promised to transfer 61 F-16 fighters to Ukraine as part of military aid.
Recently, the Netherlands announced the transfer of an additional six aircraft to Ukrainian defenders.
Currently, our pilots are being trained in Denmark and the USA. As reported yesterday, February 21, by Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat, pilot training in the USA is expected to be completed by early summer.
The fighters are needed by Ukraine, in particular, to counter Russian bombers launching guided aviation bombs. F-16s will be able to keep enemy aircraft at a distance from the launch of such bombs.
