Ukraine to sign critical gas deals with Europe this week, Zelenskyy says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine has reached gas agreements. Government officials will be able to sign the corresponding decisions with European partners as early as next week.
According to Zelenskyy, today there was a report from Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha about his coordination efforts "with our European partners."
"We have a list of absolutely clear goals in preparing for the next heating season. There are issues I discussed at the highest political level with European leaders," Zelenskyy said.
He added that at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, and Naftogaz (Ukraine's largest national oil and gas company), agreements are being prepared for implementation. The relevant agreements could be signed as early as next week.
"We expect that next week, during the conference on Ukraine's recovery to be held in Italy, our government officials will be able to sign the corresponding agreements with our partners to ensure Ukraine is supplied with energy resources," the president said.
Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude to all of Ukraine's partners who truly help the country and who are ready to scale up support in the energy sector.
"Energy resilience is the foundation of the resilience of the entire country," he concluded.
Gas supplies to Ukraine
As a reminder, recently, Ukraine and Poland extended the temporary increase in capacity for importing natural gas to Ukraine. This extension runs from August 1, 2025, through September 2026.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Energy, this is important for increasing the security of natural gas supplies.
"Moreover, this also provides access to new sources of resources. For example, LNG terminals in Poland and Lithuania, which significantly expand supply sources and enhance the country’s energy security," said Mykola Kolesnyk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
