Ukraine to boost protection of key infrastructure from Russian attacks - Zelenskyy

Ukraine will increase purchases of electronic warfare systems, restructure the work of mobile fire teams, and strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure against Russian attacks, according to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Among the key issues were contracts for the production of protection systems for critical infrastructure and logistics. We analyzed in detail the needs of Ukrzaliznytsia (the state-owned national railway company and primary passenger and freight rail carrier of Ukraine - ed.), the network of gas stations, and designated critical enterprises that are particularly significant targets for Russian strikes," the head of state said.
The president also spoke about the results of the intelligence agencies' report — it was determined what the Russians are focusing on most in their approved plans.
"There are solutions for protection. In particular, we will significantly strengthen the electronic warfare component and increase the volume of procurement — the contracts have been confirmed. The work of designated mobile fire groups and air defense lines will also be restructured," Zelenskyy's statement said.
Protecting logistics
The head of state instructed the Ministry of Finance to provide additional resources for logistical needs.
The challenges and possible joint steps with partners to ensure logistics security in border areas with EU countries and Moldova were also discussed.
"There was also a report on Ukrzaliznytsia's (UZ) capabilities to carry out rolling stock repairs and on the supply of equipment. It is important that partner support for UZ continues and that state-owned banks also support UZ," Zelenskyy said.
The president said that the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a decision on creating backup logistics routes in frontline regions, with algorithms for combining rail and bus routes already developed.
Today, the head of state announced that Ukraine had successfully tested another interceptor against Russian jet-powered Shaheds.
Security measures at gas stations in the Kyiv region will be strengthened in case of air attacks. Gas station workers will be given access to a special digital air-awareness system used by the Defense Forces.
