Ukraine to be on agenda: Biden's U.S.-EU summit plans revealed
President of the United States Joe Biden will host the leaders of the European Union at the White House at the end of October. One of the topics of discussion will be Ukraine, according to the White House Press Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre.
According to her words, the visit of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to the United States will take place on October 20. This will be the second US-EU summit during President Biden's tenure.
Jean-Pierre mentions that the summit will focus on cooperation between the European Union and the United States, including assistance to Ukraine, which is in a state of war with Russia.
Additionally, the leaders plan to touch on critical and emerging technologies, including digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
"They will also review joint activities to strengthen economic resilience and to address related challenges," she added.
Assistance to Ukraine from the EU and the US
Both the European Union and the United States are key allies of Ukraine following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
The EU provides financial support to its member states for military aid to Ukraine, while the US supplies weapons directly.
Previously, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, called on the bloc to provide ongoing military support to Ukraine.
