Ukraine strikes Crimea with ATACMS missiles: White House reveals destroyed targets
Ukrainian soldiers used long-range ATACMS missiles to strike temporarily occupied Crimea. Russian air defense systems and more were destroyed, according to John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the US National Security Council.
According to Kirby, Ukrainian soldiers have once again demonstrated that with the support of Western countries, they can hold back the largest army in Europe.
"Their success is not just limited in the front. Ukraine put US-provided ATACMS long-range strike missiles to good use in Crimea, destroying Russian surface-to-air missile systems, commandos, airfields," said Kirby.
He also said that Ukraine sank a warship in the port of Sevastopol with cruise missiles, and the Russian Black Sea Fleet left Crimea.
What preceded it
Ukraine has only once confirmed a strike with ATACMS missiles in Crimea. Back then, the General Staff officially stated that the Kerch ferry crossing was attacked.
The attack damaged two ferries. One of them got aground, which blocked the ferry's operation.
