Ukraine strengthens backup systems following Russian strikes on data centers

Ukraine’s digital infrastructure has sustained damage from Russia’s large-scale attacks. The government has planned support for backup information systems, according to a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.
Support for digital infrastructure
According to Koretskyi, amid Russian attacks on digital infrastructure, the government has allocated UAH 518.3 million from the reserve fund. The funding will strengthen backup information systems of state institutions.
The money will be used to create geographically separated backup environments and sites, as well as cloud infrastructure.
The funds will also be used to purchase:
- Server equipment,
- Software,
- Backup and recovery systems.
"This will allow us to restore the operation of state systems and services more quickly in the event of damage caused by attacks or cyberattacks. We must be prepared for various scenarios, including the worst ones," Koretskyi said.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the government would prioritize funding for defense, social payments, and public-sector salaries due to a lack of funds for other budget items.
In addition, Koretskyi recently said that Ukraine would have to spend at least $155 billion on the war with Russia this year.
