Ukraine still believes Donald Trump could end Russia's war - Foreign Minister

Ukraine still believes that President Donald Trump is capable of ending a full-scale war, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said during the GLOBSEC-2025 forum.
As Sybiha notes, he dreams of Ukraine ceasing to be a topic of discussion in all forums around the world, which, in turn, would mean achieving a lasting and comprehensive peace.
He says that was why Ukraine welcomed President Trump's efforts, adding that Ukraine wanted to end the war that year and truly believed they had a chance to accelerate their peace efforts.
Sybiha notes that next week will mark 100 days since Ukraine agreed to a full, unconditional ceasefire, which was an American proposal. However, to achieve the goal, the West must put pressure on Russia.
The Minister says that after that, Ukraine would have a chance to accelerate its peace efforts and begin negotiations on a broader peace agreement or agreements.
Sybiha also answered in the affirmative when asked whether Trump is important for achieving peace. According to him, the recipe for ending the war is simple: leadership and involvement of the American side in raising the price for Russia for continuing the war.
US attempts to end war in Ukraine
In recent months, the United States has held a number of separate meetings with representatives of Ukraine and Russia. During one of them, Washington offered Kyiv a complete ceasefire. Ukraine, in turn, supported the proposal, but Russia began to put forward its demands.
Recently, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called Trump the key to peace between Russia and Ukraine if the American leader puts pressure on Moscow.
