Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held negotiations with the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico. One of the topics was an agreement on checkpoint control, according to Shmyhal's statement.

According to PM, the parties outlined priority areas of cooperation: recovery, energy, and the development of border infrastructure.

The head of Ukraine's government notes that Ukraine appreciates Slovakia's assistance in supplying electricity.

"We discussed the situation at the border, noting that the passage of priority cargoes is carried out smoothly. We expect to conclude a bilateral agreement on control at joint crossing points soon," Shmyhal added.

He notes that the Ukrainian Peace Formula and Slovakia's support for it were also discussed.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized gratitude to Slovakia for supporting the European integration.

Slovakia's border blockade

On Friday, December 1, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, told RBC-Ukraine that Slovak carriers had initiated a blockade of the border with Ukraine at the checkpoint Vyšné Nemecké - Uzhhorod.

Carriers allowed four vehicles to enter Ukraine per hour.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia announced a meeting with Shmyhal at the beginning of 2024.
