The Russians launched a new air attack on Ukraine on the night of May 27 with 163 drones, including jet-powered ones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

On the night of May 27, starting at 6 p.m. Kyiv time on May 26, the Russian military launched 163 attack drones at Ukraine. Among them were Shaheds, including jet-powered ones, Gerberas, Italmas, decoy drones of the Parodiya type.

They were launched from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Orel, Millerovo, and Shatalovo.

How Russian attack was repelled

The Russian air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 150 Russian drones in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.

At the same time, eight strike UAVs were recorded hitting seven locations. Debris from downed drones also fell at four additional locations.

Ukrainian Air Force warns that several Russian drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force denied reports that the Russians were using radioactive drones.

Additionally, Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, explained how Russian occupiers used up to 90% decoy drones during one of the attacks on Kyiv.

Ukrainian Air Force also reported on the acute shortage of missiles for the Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T air defense systems that Ukraine was facing.
