Ukraine sets up production of Western fighting vehicle analogs
Ukrainian engineers have managed to establish the production of analogs of Western military equipment. These are the analogs of M113, MaxxPro, and Humvee armored vehicles called Lys ("Fox"), Sikach ("Boar"), and Kharakternyk ("Warlock"), reveals the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Andriy Yusov.
"It's really an amazing story when they managed to rebuild on the spot without losing combat capabilities, using available materials or equipment that was no longer suitable. Or by making their own parts. In particular, hulls and other individual units. Or even using outdated Soviet elements from Soviet equipment. It's all in use, it's all already working, it's all already being used in combat," Yusov said.
According to the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, domestic equipment is not just prototypes. All of them have proven their effectiveness on the battlefield. In particular, during the defense operation and subsequent cover for the withdrawal of Ukrainian units from Avdiivka.
According to Yusov, Sikach and Kharakternyk also took part in an operation to eliminate an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group in the east.
Production of equipment and weapons in Ukraine
The Ukrainian army is armed with many different domestically produced weapons, including unmanned systems - both airborne, ground, and waterborne. Since the beginning of 2024 alone, according to the Ministry of Defense, 46 new types of weapons have been adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin reported that Ukraine had launched mass production of a domestic analog of the Shahed.
The other day, the Ukrainian company Inguar presented a new MRAP armored combat vehicle Inguar-3.
