Ukraine could soon receive additional Mirage 2000 fighter jets from France, with the decision already finalized. The country will also get extra missiles for its air defense systems, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President announced that Ukraine will receive more fighter jets and missiles, as well as support with interceptor drones. He thanked the United Kingdom and France for their assistance.

"There is a decision regarding additional Mirage fighter jets for Ukraine and missiles for air defense. The United Kingdom will continue helping us with air defense, also with missiles and the production of interceptor drones," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, President of France Emmanuel Macron stated on October 24, after a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, that France would provide Ukraine with new military aid in the coming days, including Mirage fighter jets and Aster missiles for the SAMP/T air defense systems.

On the same day, Zelenskyy also hinted at "secret decisions" made by partners to help Ukraine but did not reveal further details.

Mirage 2000

The Mirage 2000 is a fourth-generation multirole fighter jet developed by the French company Dassault Aviation. It has been in service with France since 1978 and has undergone multiple modernizations.

The aircraft comes in three variants: interceptor fighters, strike versions, and two-seat training-combat models. Modernized versions feature advanced electronics and can carry air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and guided bombs.

The jet proved so simple and reliable that it remains in service with France and several other countries even after newer aircraft have been introduced.
