Ukraine seeks to get China on its side: Xi Jinping invited to Geneva peace summit
Ukraine has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to take part in the planned peace summit of leaders in Switzerland, reports Reuters.
"We are definitely inviting China to participate in the summit, at the highest level, at the level of the President of the People's Republic of China," said Ihor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
He noted that China's participation in the peace summit will be very important for Ukraine.
"We are working with the Chinese side. We involve our partners in the world so that they convey to the Chinese side how important participation in such a summit is," he added.
At the request of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, neutral Switzerland agreed to host a peace summit regarding Ukraine, but the date and place of its holding have not yet been determined. Zhovkva said the teams are still working on the details.
Global "peace summit"
Speaking at the G20 summit in November 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi proposed a peace formula to stop a full-scale Russian invasion.
On January 15, it became known that the Ukrainian and Swiss teams were starting preparations for the global "peace summit" at the level of the leaders of the participating states.
It is known that Switzerland chose Geneva as the venue for the planned global summit based on the peace formula proposed by Ukraine.
