At a meeting of the Energy Ramstein, partners announced €100 million for Ukraine’s energy sector and discussed additional funding, according to First Deputy Prime Minister – Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the funds will be channeled through the Energy Support Fund. They will be used for preparations for winter and to finance priority needs of the energy sector.
At the same time, partners agreed to work on attracting an additional €829 million for this fund.
“This is critically important to ensure the timely allocation of resources for already approved and priority needs, as well as for procurement implementation,” Shmyhal emphasized.
During the meeting in the format of the Ukraine Energy Coordination Group, the parties also discussed key goals and priorities of the energy sector ahead of the cold season.
Shmyhal thanked partner countries, including the United Kingdom, European Union, Italy, Norway, Canada, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Denmark, and France, for supporting Ukraine.
He separately noted the decision of the European Union on €90 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine, which will also contribute to preparations for winter.
“We believe that the support and solidarity of partners will help Ukraine get through the next winter as well,” the minister concluded.
As a reminder, during the meeting of the Ukraine Energy Coordination Group, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine expects to restore imports of petroleum products from Hungary after the launch of oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline.
According to him, this could increase supply volumes and affect a decrease in diesel prices.
